SPRAY TANNING TIPS

With Sunless Airbrush Spray Tanning you get a natural-looking tan with just one 10 minute session. Our technicians will choose one of our seven shades of color to perfectly match your skin tone to go a few shades darker for a great "just off the beach" bronzed glow. Maintain the Perfect Color by following these simple steps

It is important to remember a Spray Tan is a cosmetic tan and will ware away as your skin naturally exfoliates and it does not provide protection from the sun's rays. Try Cocktail Tanning for a deeper look to your spray.

We ask since our Spray Tanning is done by a trained technician you call to book an appointment. Please arrive on time for your appointment and if you cannot make your appointment time call to cancel- We will charge a No Show Fee upon your next visit of $10.

PREPARE :: The first thing to getting the perfect Spray Tan happens before you even come to the Salon. Shower, Shave and Exfoliate the day of your Spray Tan to rid your skin of any dead skin-cells and lotions. Be sure to come prepared remove all jewelry, make-up, deodorant and lotion. These things may act as a barrier to the skin not allowing the solution to fully absorb. Wear dark loose-fitting clothing to your sunless session to keep on afterwards. Should it be raining or there is a chance of rain come prepared with an umbrella and longer clothing so you avoid getting wet.

PROTECT YOUR COLOR :: Your Spray tan should last anywhere from 5-9 depending on your daily activities and how well you maintain it. Please wait anywhere from 8 to 24 hours before showering, sweating, or getting wet after a spray tan. The solution can take up to 4 hours to really start developing and continues to develop up to 24 hours. - note if you are using the rapid solution be sure to shower within 3 hours of your session- During your first shower avoid using hot water, exfoliating and shaving if possible. Use minimal Sulfate-free body wash- not bar soap- Moisturize daily with an all natural 24 hour moisturizer and tan extender to help prolong the life of your spray.

PROLONG YOUR SPRAY :: Proper skin care before, during, and after your sunless tan will help prolong the life of your Sunless color. Tanning Cove carries the best sunless products from Sulfate-Free body wash, Post Tan Exfoliating wash, 24-Hour Moisturizers and Tan Extending Moisturizers. Using these products and avoiding chlorine, salt water, hot baths, and over exfoliating you will maintain a beautiful long lasting tan. Ask your Technician for further details about your spray tan and products to use and avoid.

USE THE RIGHT PRODUCTS AT HOME ::  What you do before you come in and after you leave will make a huge difference with the results of your sunless tan. Using products that contain heavy oils before coming in (body washes, scrubs, lotions, and even shaving creams) will create a barrier between you and your tan. It may also cause a "drip" issue during your visit. Stay away from oils before you come in. In fact, many oils may actually strip your tan after your spray tan session. Some lotions designed to give you sunless color (yes, you Jergen’s Natural Glow) contain these tan stripping oils in order to make you have to use and buy more and more of them! Avoid spraying or applying your perfume directly to the skin before or after a spray tan, avoid high perfumed moisturizers and body washes.
Check for these common tan stripping ingredients :: Mineral Oil It is a petroleum based skin softener that not only strips your tan but also clogs your pores and has been known to have extreme effects on the skin. This is a common ingredient in cheap lotions (coco butters, suave, etc.) and is also found in Jergens Natural Glow and others. Avoid this ingredient to help your tan last longer- we love you and your tan and want to see it last and look its best for longer. Petrolatum Also a petroleum based skin softener that clogs the pores and strips the tan. This is used much less than Mineral Oil, but is prevalent in body butters mainly and really rich body creme washes as well as the Jergen’s. Again, avoid it not just for your tan, but for your skin. It’s a cheap ingredient that doesn’t lock in moisture, but just makes your skin feel soft. Hydrated skin and soft skin are not always the same thing. Sodium Laureth Sulfate: Also known as SLS, this is the most common ingredient in body washes as it is a pretty strong detergent and lathers well. However, It will strip your tan quicker than anything. Look for products that contain the less harsh Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate or a more natural coconut derived sulfate.
